Hall leaves Northern Star to attend
culinary school By Dorreen Yellow Bird, Press Secretary Northern
Star, a tribal business, is losing Skye Brook Hall, the cashier who has been
with the business since it opened a year ago.
Hall will attend the Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts, Hall is the
daughter of Nina Fox, a Mandaree school teacher. She was raised by her mother and aunts,
Connie and Georgia Fox, both work at the tribal headquarters. Her father, Merval
Hall, died when she was two years old. Her Indian
name is Holy Evergreen Woman and Juneberry Root given to her by her great grandmother
Rose Crows Flies High. Hall’s maternal grandparents
are Thomas Fox and Germaine Drags Wolf Fox.
Her paternal grandparents are Merval Hall Sr.
and Charlotte Kling. Lawrence
Baker, who sang for Hall, said he remembers her as an outstanding dancer-someone
who shows pride in her dancing. A going away
meal was put together by the Northern Star staff Rebecca Brady, director; Deb Chase,
assistant director and Pam Williams cashier/inventory. Williams replaces Hall. The tribe
