Chief Judge’s position extended at the 200th meeting of the tribal council

At a special meeting Friday, the tribal council appointed Vance Gillette, Chief Judge for another two year term.  The council reasoned about ¾ of the tribal membership favored him in the 2008 election.

After that two year term, the Chief Judge’s position will be extended to a four year term.  An election to fill the four year term will be held in 2012.

The special meeting was held to discuss the election board and swear in a board.  Copies of the election ordinance are available to tribal members at Secretary Judy Brugh’s office.

The meeting also marked the 200th meeting of the Levings administration and the tribal council for regular and special meetings.  Chairman Levings congratulated council for their diligence and leadership.
