Midwinter Powwow
brings in New Year By Dorreen Yellow Bird The Antelope Society and community sponsored the Midwinter Powwow at the Northern Lights Event Center in New Town on New Year’s Eve as well as the Antelope Society ceremony on Saturday morning and second day of the Midwinter powwow Saturday evening. More than 400 people attended the event. Charlie Moran, announcer, helped two dancers - the old 2009 and the new 2010 - as they brought in the New Year. At the crowd danced in a circle shaking hands and wishing each other a good New Year when 2010 began. The prize dance ended at about 1am and started again at 10am with the Antelope Society ceremony. |
