This is for Children from Birth to Five years of age.
There are authorizations forms for parents to sign at the local head Start programs, or at the schools. Parents need to have these forms signed so that the hearing screening can be done.  Forms will be going out today.  If a child cannot hear well, they will experience speech and language problems, so we want identify hearing problems early. The screens will be read by an audiologist and we will notify the parents/guardian if there is a problem or if further testing needs to be done.  We encourage parents to be aware of the hearing sceening dates, so let your families know.  If for whatever reason, a child  cannot attended the screening, do not hesitate to call us for a hearing screening. We will make arrangements to bring our hearing testing equipment to your home.  If any of our local referral agencies feel that a client has children from birth to five years of age that might need a hearing screening, we do take referrals. Further, if a child is identified with any type of developmental disability, we will work with the family by providing direct services, which means if they need to get to a specialist and can't get there without help, we can assist with that. We can help families with special equiptment needs for their child and services similar to that. If you are not sure if our program can help you, call us anyway because each case is different.  We also do early developmental screenings for children periodically to monitor the child's growth and development in speech/language, gross and fine motor skills, and cognitive development. Our goal is to ensure that age appropriate progress in growth and development is happening with all our children. If a developmental issue is identified, we can and will help.
