Fawn joins Fish and Wildlife By Dorreen
Yellow Bird An orphaned
fawn join Fish and Wildlife after his mother was probably killed by a motorist
on highway 1804 north of New Town about a week ago. His dogs
jumped out of his pick-up, the local man said, so he stopped to see what made
the dog jump out. There was a very young
fawn and nearby a dead doe. Not knowing
what else to do, he took the fawn home and the family took to the baby as
quickly as they would a new puppy. But, the man
said, he thought it would be best with Fish and Wildlife. Mike White Owl has become the adopted mother
and bottle feeds the young fawn. The
male deer sleeps under his desk and walks gingerly around the office when it’s
awake. White Owl
said they are intending to relocate the young fawn to a place near New Town and
to a woman who takes care of animals like this.
At this point the fawn cannot go back into the wild. He trust people and probably won’t adjust to
the wild. |
