MICRO
MANAGEMENT?, WHAT
DOES THIS MEAN? IS IT GOOD OR BAD?
I
have heard this word from time to time, the word
is usually used in a negative light, for it seems
that it is not a good thing. However, lets
look in a dictionary on what the word means:
Micro: which means ="limited, restricted,
narrow and confined"
Management: which means="administration, supervision
and managing"
So therefore, it could mean limited administration,
restricted management or narrow supervision.
If an Individual Department is working and or
operating in the manner that the membership, Tribal
Business Council and Administration Intended,
no issue is raised. If it's not broken,
you don't need to fix it. Trying to fix something
that's not broken, " Now that would be considered
negative or bad politics."
But, if there is a program or project not being
run as intended or expected and notice is given
and adequate time is afforded to address the issue,
to make the necessary changes and still, it does
not take place.
Something must be done; the membership demands
it and as Tribal Council Members, we must listen
to our membership.
Therefore, the Tribal Council takes the necessary
action to get things corrected, however it can
be confused with politics and/or Micro-Management.
For instance the adequate and timely provision
of Tribal Services to the enrolled membership
of the Three Affiliated Tribes. Or the timely
completion of a road project or building project.
Patience is not acceptable because the Tribal
Memberships' needs are now.
The Tribal Business Council body is elected and
asked to produce change today, not tomorrow.
For such things as food, water, shelter
and employment, this is not to much to ask.
There is an old saying that states: "If you want
something done right, do it yourself". The
Tribal Council then, does the job that was not
getting done. And yes, we may be accused
of Micro Management, but it could be considered
positive or good politics.

The
Coyote Commentary is my own personal opinion and
should not be taken as the official position of
the Tribal Business Council. Thank You. "Mod-zi-gidaz"
