Tribal Business Council of TAT
Regular Meeting held on February 8, 2001--Action

Tribal Business Council         Disapproves the Indian Health Service Medication Policy.
The Tribal Business Council took official action to oppose the new Policy Statement issued by the Indian Health Service. This is in regards to the requirements to be followed in order to receive medication. Which was issued from the local Minni-Tohe/Health Center by Karol Parker, Service Unit Director.
Mrs. Parker addressed the TBC and informed us that the policy was to be implemented due to the shortage of funds and the liability issue of giving medication without I.H.S. doctors examining patients.
The Tribal Business Council felt that there should be a less restrictive policy and will lobby in the Aberdeen Area and the Washington D.C. offices for more funding. In addition the Tribal Business Council passed Resolution #01-34-MWJR in a 6-1 vote to officially object to the new policy.
Tribal Council selects Randy Phelan to serve on the Twin Buttes Custom Homes Board of Directors.
