Tribal Business Council of TAT- Continuation of Regular Meeting held on February 26, 2001--Action

Tribal Business Council Unanimously approves the increase of Tribal Business Council membership.
The Tribal Business Council approved by motion to develop the constitution amendment language for the increase of the membership to a council of nine (9). The official action will be presented in a special meeting to be held on  April 13 2001 for official action by Resolution. This action will also include the necessary provisions to conduct a Recall and/or Referendum.
Treasurer and Secretary to Run At large in 2002 Election.
The Treasurer and the Secretary would run at large for the two (2) seats in the 2002 TBC Election for a two (2) year term. Then for a four (4) year term in the 2004 TBC Election.
Representatives will remain at six (6) respectively.
The Segment representatives shall remain the same as the presently are;
Four Bears Segment, Little Shell Segment, Mandaree Segment, Twin Buttes Segment, Parshall Segment and the White Shield Segment.

Vice Chairman Elected by the standing Representatives.

The Vice Chairman of the Tribal Business Council will be elected every two (2) years by the six (6) Segment Representatives--2002, 2004 and 2006 thereafter.
The formal approval process of the Constitution Amendment must be conducted by Bureau of Indian Affairs.
The process is a little complex but these are basic issues in the proposed constitution amendment. Upon passage of the Resolution, such action will be forwarded to the Bureau of Indian Affairs to conduct a Secretarial Election per the Constitution of the Three Affiliated Tribes of the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation.
The proposed amendments must be approved by the vote of the enrolled membership of the Three Affiliated Tribes.
The Tribal Business Council is responding to the recommendations of the membership of the Three Affiliated Tribes.
The people have asked for this change during the 1998 and 2000 Tribal Council Elections, therefore the Tribal Council unanimously voted to approve such motion.
