Regular Meeting held on July 3, 2001 Action

JTAC Draw down for the FY 2001 Budget.
The Tribal Business Council voted to Draw down $8,865,714.54 form the JTAC Accounts at the Office of Trust Funds Management for the FY2001 Budget needs pursuant to Tribal Council Resolution #01-164-MWJR.
The Department of Interior--Bureau of Indian Affairs revisions to "Leases & Permits" opposed by TBC.
The Tribal Business took official action to request that the Department of Interior, Bureau of Indian Affairs forthwith take the actions necessary to remove Section 162.109 © from 25 CFR Part 162.  Stated in part from Resolution #01-165-MWJR; "Whereas, ...TAT...is opposed to any potential application of state law to lease disputes and the definition by state law of the remedies available to the Indian Landowners in the event of a lease violation by the tenant, particularly in view of the fact that these very regulations recognize that the laws of the Three Affiliated Tribes would generally apply to the lands on the Fort Berthold Reservation are subject to the governance of Part 162;.
JTAC II Funding  be sought from the Federal Government for replacement of a Centralized School System.
Stated in part from Resolution #01-166-MWJR; "Now Therefore, Be it Resolved, That the Tribal Business Council of the Three Affiliated Tribes hereby establishes the JTAC II Task Force Committee to develop a plan to pursue compensation for any Schools that were lost in the acquisition of Tribal land by the U.S. Government in 1949.
"Be it further resolved, That the JTAC II Task Force Committee that will pursue compensation for the loss of the Schools shall be comprised of the following:

  1. Tribal Chairman Tex Hall and Tribal Business Council members Austin Gillette, Marcus Wells, Jr. and Mark Fox;
  2. Health and Human Resource and Education Committee Members Randy Phelan, Daylon Spotted Bear, and Malcolm Wolf;
  3. Five School Board members, one from each School District.
  4. One member of the Three Affiliated Tribes Education Department; and
  5. One Board member from each of the six segment boards."

RAM Team assistance given for services to Fort Berthold Reservation.
The Tribal Business Council voted to fund the RAM Vet Team an amount of $600 to feed the team while performing the services for the Tribes.
