Commentary from Four Bears Segment
From the Desk of Marcus Wells, Jr., "Mo-zah",
Four Bears Council Representative of the Three
Affiliated Tribes
Senator
Kent Conrad and the Senate Oversight Hearing
of the PL-102-575, Equitable Compensation Act,
Held on August 30, 2001
- Continued from Page 10 -
The
Hearing then began to take a turn for the negative
political grandstanding by a former administrative
officer of the Tribe who felt it necessary to
take the opportunity to take a political stand.
Which is understandable coming from this individual.
However, the opportunity to provide this constructive
criticism is available everyday. We are not so
large of an organization that we cannot communicate
issues to each other at the right place at the
right time.
I believe that Mr. Kent Conrad being a Senator
of North Dakota is capable for separating the
wheat from the chaff, so therefore the future
of our children and our children's children
should not be affected by this type of rhetoric.
So back to the Intent of JTAC II proposals, the
ability to build a hospital, school facilities
for all the districts within the Reservation,
and more opportunity to be afforded the proper
"Just Compensation" for the taking of the (156,000)
one hundred fifty-six thousand acres of Allotted
and Tribal Land and the pain and suffering of
our Tribal Elders.
Tony Mandan, made the closing comments and put
everything back into perspective, that we are
only trying to ensure our children's future. Thank
You Mr. Mandan.

The
Coyote Commentary is my own personal opinion and
should not be taken as the official position of
the Tribal Business Council. Thank You. "Mod-zi-gidaz"
