The FY 2001 Tribal General Fund Budget again being presented to each segment for comment

From the Desk of Marcus Wells, Jr. Four Bears Council Representative.
The 2001 General Fund Budget is again being submitted to each segment at a regular scheduled community meeting for the input and comments of segment members. The 2000 Budget year has come to a close and the Tribal Business Council is reviewing the draft for mark up and discussion at the next Tribal Business Council Meetings.
The shortfall that has plagued the former administration is still present at this time for the Tribal Business Council to deal with. The former Tribal Council's dealt with unfunded man

dates and under funded 638 Programs that could only be funded with working capital loans and JTAC Draws, just as the present administration must endure.  The Tribal Business Council Budget is funded by the Indirect Cost Funds which are receipted in the amount of $1,300,000 and the Tribal Business Council Budget is at the same amount.  However the problem is  that the Indirect Budgets have been running at the amount of $3,500,000 roughly ($2,200,000)  over budget. But the former and present Tribal Business Council have agreed to continue forward, or the following programs would not receive any funding:

Finance  $900,000
Personnel $200,000
Legal Dept. $350,000
Property  $250,000
Mailroom $125,000
Maintenance
$500,000
Total              $2,250,000
Also, the federal government consistently shortfalls  the Tribe which averages $3,500,000 annually., the tribe therefore supplements Federal Programs at $3,500,000.
