Councilman Barry Benson is the youngest of 13 children, born to Olive Shoolas-Spotted Bear-Benson and Frank T. Benson.

A member of the Three Clan he has lived in the Twin Buttes area all of his life.

Barry was elected to the Three Affiliated Tribes Tribal Business Council on November 07, 2006; He is currently the Natural Resource Committee Chairman and is a member of the Health and Human Committee and the Chairman of the Fort Berthold Housing Authority Commission.
