Councilman Cory Spotted Bear is a member of the Mandan Hidatsa and Arikara Nation (MHA Nation) seven member Tribal Business Council. This is Councilman Spotted Bear’s third four-year term as the Twin Buttes Representative. Twin Buttes is the South Segment of Fort Berthold Indian Reservation in North Dakota. He serves as the Vice Chairman of the MHA Tribal Business Council, the Chair of the MHA Nation Natural Resource Committee, Vice Chair of the Executive Committee and is a member of the Energy Committee.

He attended college at Haskell Indian Nation’s University and graduate school at Kansas University in Lawrence Kansas. Councilman Spotted Bear is a long-standing Board Member of the Nu’eta Hidatsa Sahnish College. He also founded the Nu’eta Language Initiative, a Mandan language revitalization initiative. As a cultural man, Councilman Spotted Bear is a member of the Water Buster Clan and a child of the Flint Knife Clan. He lives happily in Twin Buttes with his wife, Sierra, and children – Niibwin (13) and Shahkohe (10). His oldest daughter, Morning Grace, attends college at South Dakota School of Mines.

Cory enjoys any outdoor activity, hunting, fishing, trapping, kayaking, shed hunting, identifying plants, gardening, horsemanship, yard work, camping, exploring. At one time in his life he was an avid basketball and softball player, today it brings him joy watching his children participate in all types of sports.
