Servies Provided & Mission

The TAT Vocational Rehabilitation Project is an education and training area program that offers Vocational Rehabilitation services to American Indians with disabilities. The goal of this project is to assist people with the liabilities to find and/or maintain employment.

Vocational Rehabilitation includes an array of services funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Education, Rehabilitation Services Administration in cooperation with the state of N.D. Division of Vocational Rehabilitation.

Services

Tribal VR services are designed to achieve an employment objective consistent with your unique circumstances. You and your counselor will assess your strengths, resources, priorities, abilities, concerns, and capabilities to arrive at an acceptable rehabilitation plan.

The Following Services May be Utilized:

  • Eligibility and/or vocational needs assessments
  • Counseling, guidance, and work-related placement services
  • Vocational other training services
  • Mental and physical restoration
  • Maintenance for additional costs incurred while in rehabilitation
  • Tuition,  books/supplies, room/board, personal needs allowances, transportation
  • Interpreter services for individuals who are deaf or visually impaired
  • Occupational licenses, supplies, tools, equipment, and initial stocks
  • Recruitment and training services
  • Assistive technology services
  • Native healing services
  • Information and referral services

Upon completion of an application for services, the Vocational Rehabilitation staff will conduct an intake interview to determine your eligibility and appropriate services consistent with your unique strengths and capabilities, You will be asked to provide copies of records certifying your disability, or the VR counselor will obtain your signature on appropriate information release for permitting your physician to provide this information directly to them.

Once you are determined eligible under the program’s guidelines, you will enter into the rehabilitation phase of your program.

To be eligible for TAT Vocational Rehabilitation services Project Activities:

  • Must be an enrolled member an Alaskan Native or American Indian Tribe.
  • You must have a physical or mental impairment.
  • Your impairment must constitute, or result in, a substantial impediment to your employment.
  • You must be “reasonably expected to benefit”, in terms of employment, from the Vocational Rehabilitation received.

Funding for the Three Affiliated Tribes Vocational Rehabilitation Services Project is provided through a grant from the US Department of Education/ Rehabilitation Administration.
