Services Provided

In accordance with the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), a Tribal Historic Preservation Officer (THPO) is the designated tribal preservation official of a federally recognized tribe. A THPO is responsible for the administration of any or all of the functions of a State Historic Preservation Officer (SHPO) with respect to tribal land.

Area(s) Served

Fort Berthold Reservation proper and Mandan, Hidatsa, and Arikara ancestral homelands.

Purpose/Mission Statement

To fulfill all relevant requirements of the Native American Graves Protection Repatriation Act, National Historic Preservation Act, Archeological Resources Protection Act.
